Harmony in the Park - A Celebration of Barbershop Music
Sun, Jul 9 2023
High Desert Harmony Chorus presented "Harmony in the Park -- A Celebration of Barbershop Music" on Sunday, July 9, 2023 to an enthusiastic audience of more than 400 people. Wingfield Park in downtown Reno is the perfect venue for this fun family-oriented show, which also featured the Silver Dollar Chorus, Free Range quartet and the Question Marks quartet. The evening started out with an interactive workshop on the joys of barbershop music -- the kids loved learning the brief four-part tag which they sang on stage with HDH.
HDH appreciates being part of Artown each year, and we thank our sponsors, including the City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission, whose support made this production possible.

High Desert Harmony Chorus was thrilled to share our holiday music and cheer with more than 300 enthusiastic audience members at two performances of "High Desert Holidays" on Dec. 11, 2022. The shows were again held at the fun and exciting "The Theatre" on Keystone Avenue.
Our Holiday Guest Chorus of ten talented ladies from the community joined HDH on three songs. We were also joined by choruses from Rollan Melton Elementary and Reed High School and young dancers from Dance Unlimited. Two fabulous quartets, Free Range and Serafina, also performed crowd-pleasing holiday songs.
Many thanks to our enthusiastic audiences, sponsors, advertisers, friends and family for your support! We are also grateful for the generous support from the Nevada Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts and the Reno Arts & Culture Commission, which helped make these performances possible.

Sun, Dec 12 2021
After a year's hiatus in 2020, High Desert Harmony Chorus was thrilled to present "High Desert Holidays" again on December 12, 2021! We presented two shows, which were held at The Theatre, a beautiful, newly refurbished performance venue in Reno.
HDH's annual Holiday Guest Chorus (ten talented ladies from the community) joined the chorus on three songs, and two school choirs (Elizabeth Lenz Elementary Honor Choir and Damonte Ranch High School's Piu Mosso Choir) also gave amazing performances. Two quartets (Ransom Notes and Free Range) rounded out the entertainment!

The City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission is collecting data on audiences that participate in arts and culture events. We would appreciate your time filling out this survey so we can better understand who is currently attending arts and culture events in the City of Reno.
Despite the rain, we had a great time at our park clean-up! Got to meet some of our new members for the first time, give back to the community, and sing a little, of course. Thanks to Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and everyone that came out!
High Desert Harmony's festive season of singing culminated in our annual holiday show, “High Desert Holidays,” on Dec. 15, 2019 at Harrah’s Sammy’s Showroom in downtown Reno. What a fabulous venue this was, and we were thrilled to have a near-capacity crowd on hand to enjoy holiday favorites sung by HDH and several quartets, as well as a very special performance by the young ladies of Reed High School's Visions Ensemble. For the second year, HDH welcomed a Holiday Guest Chorus to join us on stage for three holiday classics. Thirty enthusiastic and talented ladies from the community rehearsed with us for six weeks prior to the show to get a taste of the fun and excitement of barbershop music. It was wonderful singing with and getting to know these lovely ladies!

A Cappella on the River - An Artown Performance
Mon, Jul 8 2019
The ladies of High Desert Harmony had a great time at our annual Artown show on July 8, 2019. This year the show was held at Reno's historic First United Methodist Church in downtown Reno to an enthusiastic full house. Joining the chorus were three of our quartets: Free Range, Ransom Notes and Serafina.
Our July calendar is full of other Artown activities, including singing the National Anthem at the Chamber of Commerce Biz Ball Championship game; participating in Discover the Arts; and performing at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. We love Artown!
High Desert Holidays
Mon, Dec 10 2018
High Desert Harmony celebrated the holiday season in grand style on Dec. 10, 2018 with "High Desert Holidays," at McKinley Arts & Culture Center in Reno. We were thrilled to have a sellout crowd on hand to enjoy our traditional holiday favorites, as well as the enthusiastic musical offerings of Reno High School's women's chorus and Echo Loder Elementary School's honor choir.
High Desert Harmony was joined for three songs by our first-ever Holiday Guest Chorus -- 14 ladies from the community who rehearsed with us for five weeks prior to the show to get a taste of the fun and excitement of barbershop music. It was wonderful having these enthusiastic ladies on stage with us and we hope they'll be back for more in the New Year!
Mon, Jul 30 2018
Every July, Reno becomes Artown, and High Desert Harmony was thrilled to take part in this annual event once again. On July 30th, we presented an old-time radio show, complete with an emcee, funny commercials, call-in requests, light-up applause sign, and radio jingles. Our “Friends & Family” show was July 23rd, and both nights had big audiences and thunderous applause (thanks in part to that applause sign)! Our newest quartet, Sierra Sirens, debuted on July 30th, with Amy Fleming (tenor), Alana Ridge (lead), Jenny Carr (baritone), and Daria Tavoularis (bass).
