Participation in the performance is not required.
December 7 Schedule
10:00 - Space is open and anyone is welcome to arrive early
12:45 - Quartet sound checks
1:00 - Guest Chorus Call Time
1:15 - Guest Chorus warm-ups and sound check
2:00 - Volunteers arrive (ushers, tickets, etc.)
2:30 - House open to the public
3:00 - Show begins
~ 4:20 - APPROXIMATE Guest Chorus On Stage time
~ 4:35 - APPROXIMATE end of show
What to wear: Costume for the 12/7 performance is black + optional sparkle. Last year's picture is below and everything works great except we won't have the red accents this year. Wear something that fits in with that chorus and email or text a picture to Sheila if you'd like a second opinion. (sheilamonson15@gmail.com or 408-472-0233)

Each week, the hall will be open at 6:00 and you are encouraged to arrive early to get signed in and set up. Available copies of the music will need to be left at the hall so you are encouraged to print the music at home or download to a tablet.
Attendance is not mandatory and rehearsal will be recorded and posted to the members-only page each week in the event you have time to catch up or review throughout the week.

We'd love for you to stay! - We welcome new members year-round and the next big event is our Spring Regional Competition (in Reno) at the beginning of March which is SO MUCH FUN! To audition, just record yourself singing any of the 3 guest chorus songs and send that recording to Amy (HDHReno@gmail.com, text to 775-240-0507, or upload to the member homepage of the website under "My Assessments"). 5 or fewer note errors is a pass! We don't listen for vocal skills or musicality for the audition; just accuracy and the ability to use the learning material to learn the music. More details about membership can be found here. After the Holiday Show, we'll be back at rehearsal on January 5th. Beginning in January, our audition song will change to one of the two competition songs.
HDH is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, an organization of 16,000 singers around the world. More informaiton here. We are part of Pacific Shores Region 12. More information here. This affiliation provides us with opportunities to sing with others and strengthen our education.
You have access to a full range of vocal exercises that will strengthen the foundation we've been laying. Our vocal coach, Debra Lynn, teaches the "Bel Canto" style of singing which is particularly well suited to barbershop/a cappella (as well as opera and musical theater, and other genres). Each exercise has an explanatory introduction to help you set your intention, valuable for even the most experienced singers!
